The Governor of North Carolina has extended Phase 2 of the Safer-at-Home Order for the entire state of North Carolina through at least August 7, 2020. Since initially moving into Phase 2, several key metrics have been trending in a concerning direction, which is why the order has been extended. This includes the state’s daily number of positive COVID-19 tests, among others. With this being put into effect, ShopBot Tools will remain closed to the public. While our on-site offerings will be limited during this period of time, many of our employees are working remotely and are available to help you during normal business hours via phone and email.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel all training sessions scheduled to take place at our facility in Durham, NC through September 2020. Our intention is to continue to evaluate the situation and make a determination as to training session offerings for the rest of 2020 later this year. Once we have made a final decision, we will share that information. We have emailed all of the people that have been signed up for training during with information regarding potential rescheduling. In the meantime, we have launched the Virtual ShopBot Workshop, which includes live demos/trainings each week, as well as a library of videos that include recordings of the live sessions, shop tours, and other videos from the people of ShopBot. We are also posting new, informative content online via a variety of channels including YouTube, IGTV, and Facebook. Additionally, we encourage you to take advantage of the many online resources available to you on our website. ShopBot has several training videos online, as well as a web page catalog of ready-to-go projects. Vectric, makers of VCarve Pro and Aspire, also have a variety of online resources available. And don’t forget to keep an eye out for what other ShopBotters are doing and posting to social media via the feed on our website.
There are also training options available for purchase, including one-to-one virtual training and access to a recorded version of Basic Training broken out into 10 video modules. Production Support Services (PSS)
We are currently scheduling a limited number of PSS jobs. These are subject to local and travel destination restrictions. There are also limitations to scheduling PSS due to the number of technicians we have currently have available for travel. We want to do what we can to help get you up and running, but do so in a way that protects both our staff and you, while working to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The CDC has specific guidelines for keeping the workplace, schools, and home as safe as possible. We have implemented a rolling work schedule for our employees, including a work from home option for those that can work remotely, in order to limit the number of people at our facility each day.
Following the advice of public health officials, ShopBot encourages our staff and visitors to practice healthy hygiene habits to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, such as washing hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth, and staying home if sick.
For the protection of our employees and for the protection of your staff, we would request that all vendor meetings be handled either via a phone call or through a web meeting if at all possible.
The health and safety of our people, as well as our customers and business partners, are always our top priority. We support, and will follow, the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and we are continuously monitoring the external situation and additional guidance provided from other governing bodies in order to adjust our actions. We expect the COVID-19 situation to continue to be dynamic and we will need to be agile, fully knowledgeable, and adaptive to the situation.
